Polynesian floor work

Polynesian floor work is an integrated stress release, bone and joint massage (fully clothed), similar to a Thai massage, it can be incorporated before any other other therapies or on its own.

It is perfect for those people who do not yet feel flexible enough to start yoga classes but who are interested in stretching and realigning their bodies and developing new body awareness with support and confidence.

So what is Polynesian Floor Work exactly?

 It’s a form of bodywork based on an ancient Kahuna (Hawaiian) form of healing. On a physical level, it works on flushing toxins from the lymph system, restoring energy flow, boosting the immune system and keeping the fascia (the connective tissue that protects and supports every single part of our body, including our muscles) relaxed and supple.

Breath is a crucial part of this therapy. On an in-breath, we open ourselves up, on the exhale, we release and people can experience this release on many different levels, be it physically, mentally, emotionally or a combination of these.

As with most forms of bodywork, the release of tight muscles, fascia and knots helps to set free the peptides that have been trapped within those areas, bringing liberation from old woundings, emotions and stresses.

The body holds onto emotions and trauma in many different ways, sometimes it is in the particular muscles that were stressed or tensed at the moment of impact, either through physical injury or emotional distress, however, particular parts of the body can also give a clear reflection of the pain that may be held.

For example; tight shoulders can mean feeling burdened by responsibility, sore legs can be a reflection of a fear of moving forward in life, and tight pectoral muscles can show a wounding that has happened concerning the heart & love...it is amazing what the body can tell you when you look for the signs.

This holistic approach can heal many physical symptoms that are present, allowing for restoration on many levels and allowing for harmony in body & mind.
