Post Pregnancy Care
(birth, miscarriage & abortion)

The processes of Birth, Miscarriage and Abortion can quite often generate many disempowering feelings for women, including guilt, shame, inadequacy, failure, pain, discomfort, disconnection, isolation, fear & self-doubt.

My goal is to aid women to feel empowered through the most vulnerable, powerful and memorable moments of their lives. Through my own post pregnancy experiences I felt there was a real lack of understanding and acceptance around the broad range of emotions and pressures that women undergo during these extremely vulnerable and life changing times. My desire is to provide women with a sacred space where they can feel acknowledged & honoured for all thoughts, expressions and emotions that arise at this time and to help transform & cleanse any pain, trauma or wounding that has occurred within these situations.

Providing nurturing support and using extensive healing techniques to help restore the body to a state of balance & harmony can allow for a woman’s naturalness to be revealed and honoured in all circumstances & environments, offering relief and acceptance for all involved.

Post Partum

Massage Therapy plays an important part in the restoration of the abdominal muscle wall and the uterus to its normal state, helping to return a woman's body to it's pre-pregnancy condition. It helps to realign the body weight to it's original distribution and tones the over-stretched areas of skin over the belly. As with all massages, it relieves muscle tension and stress from everyday activities, especially new mothering duties. It not only helps restore the physical body to the new mum but also helps to revive her emotional state. The loving touch of hands can provide a time to relax and reflect and can help to get her through the postpartum blues. When a mother feels good about herself, it is easier to meet the needs of her newborn.

Doctors usually say the postpartum period is six weeks, when the uterus shrinks back to it's normal size, which is true. However, the ligaments in your body take 2 years to cinch back down into place. A woman has a wonderful open window to get herself into a better place muscularly than she was in before she was pregnant. It's a chance to work with you body and become stronger for it.

Massage therapy can help a woman to strenghten herself emotionally too. Massage decreases stress hormones and promotes endorphins - especially beneficial to new mums coping with the radical physical and psychological change from pregnant woman to new mother.

Post Miscarriage

1. Rest, recuperate and be gentle
Many women want to get pregnant right away after a miscarriage, wanting to hurry up and move on. It may be different for each person, but the body really needs to rest and sort itself out. It would not be best for your body or hormonal system to try to force your period to come early. Generally, it may take 2 weeks to 2 months for the menstrual cycle to come back, the pregnancy hormones to balance back to pre-pregnancy levels, and for your body to replenish its reserves.

Be gentle on yourself. Take some time to explore what you are going through and rest and focus on taking care of yourself. You don’t have to rush back to work right away. Work can wait!

2. Nourish yourself
Pregnancy demands a lot from your body, as does a miscarriage. Nourish yourself with whole foods that are iron rich, full of fiber, and contain vibrant colors. Eating a natural
fertility diet will help to support your body in healing and replenishing nutrients.

3. Protect yourself from infection
Directly after a miscarriage it is a good idea to help support your body in warding off infections that can occur. Avoid hot tubs, douching, taking baths, or having sex until the bleeding subsides. Some natural therapies that are known to help prevent infection are:

Ø  Aged garlic capsules or fresh garlic

Ø  Vitamin C

Ø  Grapefruit seed extract

Ø  Oil of Oregano

Use each supplement as bottle suggests.

4. Support the uterus and liver
After the bleeding has stopped and a new menstrual cycle is beginning you may want to perform a natural
Fertility Cleanse. The best time to start a Fertility Cleanse is the day after your period has stopped, so you may want to plan ahead. This will help to support the liver in cleansing old/excess hormones, medications taken, and in turn help to balance the hormones. The Fertility Cleanse is also very effective at helping to support the uterus in cleansing itself. Sometimes there is old stagnant blood left in the uterus which could use some help getting out. The Fertility Cleanse is a gentle cleanse that can be done in conjunction with a nourishing fertility diet to help support and bring your body back to balance. It is best not to try to conceive while doing the Fertility Cleanse.

5. Massage the uterus
When you feel ready, all bleeding has stopped, and you are not on your period, you may want to start massaging the uterus. This can help to relax the uterus, help bring fresh new blood to the area, and tonify the uterine tissues

Post Abortion

Every woman is unique in how she feels after an abortion. Most women report a sense of relief that they have made the best decision under the circumstances. This is the most common response.
For some women, however, abortion can raise a number of emotional responses including sadness, guilt, rage, shame, and regret. Just as each woman is unique, so is her personal path to healing. In general, understanding your emotional pain can help you to begin to let go of these feelings. It is important to acknowledge that you are hurting and to take good care of yourself if you are experiencing difficulty.

There can be many factors that can contribute to a woman feeling distress after an abortion, including lack of support or the fact that your hormones are changing back to their pre-pregnancy state. This chemical change can cause feelings of sadness & weepiness.

In rare cases, women may become clinically depressed after having an abortion.
If your feelings are overwhelming and do not seem to be resolving or you are suffering symptoms of depression, you should consult a professional.
