About Sunfyre

Aloha, I’m Nicole and I own and run Sunfyre. I am a certified Massage Therapist and Yoga Teacher and an 'uncertified'  Single Mother of one. I am on a committed path of self growth & development, a path with heart that honours the balance between the feminine & masculine, nurtures my true essence and encourages me to challenge & support myself throughout this life’s journey, whatever it may bring.

My Pre/Post Natal Story

During my pregnancy, aside from all day morning sickness for the 1st three months, I also experienced back pain, neck pain, hip pain, varicose veins, sore breasts, fluctuating and at times random emotions and various other pregnancy related symptoms. I also discovered that during pregnancy, options are limited for pain relief, with natural remedies being the optimal and at times only choice. Massage and Yoga were my drug of choice, easing my aches & pains, stimulating my feel-good hormones and creating harmony and balance within my body & mind.  This quiet & relaxing time, away from everyday responsibilities, allowing me to connect and bond with my growing baby, was priceless! I learned how to drop into my feminine-creative essence more and more, to let go of controlling every little thing and to find joy and ease in going with the flow. I became more in tune with my body, my heart, with nature, my femininity and my baby.  What a miracle to feel another human-being growing inside of me, to know that my body was nurturing, protecting and nourishing this unborn child, to know this unconditional love for my  baby – a true blessing!

My child birthing experience didn’t quite go to plan with my worst fears being realised (yes, I have now learned ‘that which you fear most’ will come true if you put too much energy into it) and through my post partum recovery I experienced many things, among them post natal depression. While I was relieved and grateful to have a healthy baby girl, I felt during these first few weeks & months after my baby was born that all the support and information I had received was geared towards pregnancy and childbirth and once I had birthed my baby and left the hospital most support virtually disappeared overnight.  I was left to process my traumatic birth experience alone, to recover, not just physically but mentally, emotionally, spiritually and sexually on my own. All while coping with a restless, colicky baby, sleepless nights, sore & cracked nipples and a multitude of new & sometimes frightening situations that I felt totally unprepared & unqualified to deal with. Some days were overwhelming, somedays I didn’t know how I was going to make it through...but i did and sometimes we need darkness to see the stars...

This personal journey with all its ups & downs helped me grow a lot. As a woman, a mother and a human-being. My own personal experience with pregnancy, childbirth & post partum recovery left me feeling that there was so much more to be offered to women throughout their entire birthing journey.

Since the birth of my child I have spent many years studying, researching and experiencing this amazing & transitional time for women. I have heard and shared stories through loved ones & clients and I can see how even though every birthing journey is different, there are still many fundamental similarities for the women involved, we truly are an amazing sisterhood! I believe that this is a sacred time where women should be cherished, nurtured and supported and that all feelings, emotions, and experiences (whether perceived as good or bad) need to be acknowledged & honoured for deep & lasting healing to take place.

I am honoured to be sharing this journey with you... Namaste
